The Trial of Mary Dugan, the 1929 Bayard Veiller murder crime melodrama ("A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer All Talking Picture"; based on the play by Bayard Vellier; about a young woman in a reform school, and she escapes, and starts a new life, but when she falls in love, and her fiance wants to move to another country, she fears that applying for a passport will expose her past and send her to prison, which leads to a series of events culminating in her trial, but to learn more, you will need to see the movie!) starring Norma Shearer (in the title role as Mary Elizabeth Dugan), Lewis Stone, H.B. Warner, Raymond Hackett, Lilyan Tashman, and Olive Tell. Note that this movie was remade in 1941 starring Laraine Day and Robert Young.
