A 1969 Second Printing Linenbacked French Travel Poster (measures 25 3/4" x 36" [65 x 91 cm]) (Learn More)

Croisieres Etoile Du Sud (literally translates to "Star of the South"), the 1969 second printing of the classic 1934 French travel poster encouraging travel aboard Southern Star Cruises. This poster features great art of a giraffe's silhouette containing samples of other African attractions, with an airplane flying overhead. This poster has a red stamp in the printing in the upper left, and the 1934 poster did not, which we have been told guarantees that this is definitely the second printing! If anyone knows more about distinguishing between the two editions of this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info:

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded and had only minor wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well, but at some point after linenbacking, the poster was roughly handled and there are now minor creases down the right edge of the poster, and a few in the rest of the borders, but it is almost entirely in the excess linen and only enters the poster in one tiny area in the upper right border.
