What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster had many creases, scuffs, smudges, and stains scattered throughout, including in the face of the girl at top center. It also had pinholes and tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. Someone linenbacked the poster, and given its great deal of defects, they did the best they could, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. In addition, either before or after the poster was backed, it acquired additional damage two-thirds of the way up the left border, which caused tears and cracks in the left border (both the white and red areas) next to the bottom of the top image.
