An Original Vintage Unfolded International Printer's Test One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 41 1/4" [71 x 105 cm]) (Learn More)

Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the classic 1977 Steven Spielberg (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) science fiction (sci-fi) alien UFO melodrama ("Close Encounter of the First Kind: Sighting of a UFO"; "Close Encounter of the Second Kind: Physical Evidence"; "Close Encounter of the Third Kind: Contact"; "We are not alone."; "Every 15 minutes, someone sees a UFO"; "Written and Directed by Steven Spielberg") starring Richard Dreyfuss, Teri Garr, Melinda Dillon (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Francois Truffaut (the famous French director, in an acting role; "as Lacombe"), Bob Balaban, and Cary Guffey (as the little boy). Note that Paul Schrader wrote the original screenplay for this movie, but Steven Spielberg made many changes to Schrader's script. Finally, Schrader asked that his name be taken off the screenplay, and since it had to have someone's name on it, Spielberg put his own name on the screenplay!

Important Added Info: Note that this printer's test (also known as a printer's proof) was discovered in 2000! A man in southern California inherited a group of uncut posters (all printer's tests, see below for more on printer's tests), all from 1977, from a man who worked at a printer at that time. The posters were solely multiple examples of five different 1977 posters. One of the posters was a very forgettable title, "Damnation Alley", one was this "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" poster, and the other three were all "Star Wars" posters! Included in this great find were eighteen examples of the style A "Star Wars" poster (with the original "77/21-0" NSS number), and thirty three examples of the style C "Star Wars" poster, and twelve examples of the Spanish style C "Star Wars" poster! The posters were consigned to Bruce Hershenson, who sold 18 sets of both style A and style C U.S. posters, 15 individual style C posters, and the 12 individual Spanish style C posters. All of the 63 posters sold quickly, and very few have been re-offered for sale in the past seven years. Now, one of the original purchasers of all four English language printer's tests (this collector did not want the Spanish language poster) has re-consigned it to Bruce Hershenson, and it is being offered for sale right now! Note that this is a very rare uncut printer's test! After they were printed, they would then be shown to the various people in a position to "OK" them, and once they were completely approved, the printer would print the full print run of the posters. Not only is a printer's test far more rare than a regular poster, but it is also 100% genuine, there is no fear of purchasing a reproduction! Finally, note that this is an "international" style one-sheet (meaning it was printed in the U.S. for use in non-U.S. countries). Note the lack of a ratings box and NSS information.

Condition: very good to fine. There are a few very minor creases scattered throughout the poster but they are not very noticeable or distracting and the poster displays really well!
