An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) The Beloved Rogue, the 1927 Alan Crosland silent France romantic adventure thriller (set in the 15th century; about the famous French poet, Francois Villon, who was also a scoundrel, but a fierce patriot; he lived in the middle 1400s, but how much of the literary character is taken from real life is very hard to know; the character was also portrayed in "If I Were King" in both 1920 and 1938, the latter with Ronald Colman in the role; Villon is a combination of Cyrano de Bergerac, Robin Hood, D'Artagnan, and Zorro rolled into one!) starring John Barrymore (in the title role as Francois Villon), Conrad Veidt, Marceline Day, Dick Sutherland, Dickie Moore (in his very first movie at 2 years old!), and Angelo Rossitto (as Beppo the Dwarf) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1927 movie paper from this John Barrymore movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie poster from this movie (only a standee in 1997, and some stills) until we received this window card! Condition: good to very good. The card has some smudges, scuffs, and small tears around the edges, with a 6" tear in the lower right, in the solid area above the word "JOHN". It had a few scuffs scattered in the image. Many years ago, some unknown person mounted the window card to foamcore, which had the effect of mending the tears, but they made no attempt at restoration. The card could be removed from the foamcore, but it hasn't hurt the card after all these years, and it won't in the years to come. The card displays well as it is, but of course, one could choose to have restoration performed (with or without removing it from the foamcore). Learn More about condition grades
