An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French "Affiche" Movie Poster (23x32; measures 23" x 31 1/4") (Learn More)

L'Affiche De Cinema De 1895 A 1946 (literally translates to "The Cinema Poster From 1895 To 1946"), the 1946 French museum poster promoting the very first historic art exhibit of movie posters which took place from June to August in Paris, France (there were no exhibitions of movie posters in the United States that I am aware of until the 1980s). Note that this poster includes recreated art of the 1895 French poster, Cinematographe Lumiere, which shows an audience watching the very first comedy movie ever made, "Watering the Gardner", which had art by Auzolle. Note that the art in this poster is signed "Rojac d'apres Auzolle", which means that French artist Roger Jacquier edited the original French Cinematographe Lumiere poster by Auzolle.
Artist: Roger Jacquier d'apres Auzolle

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It had some minor creases and tiny tears around the edges and some faint smudges in the white background areas. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was mounted onto a very thin linen with no excess, and no restoration was performed.
