This was the year that Metro Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures, and Louis B. Mayer joined forces and combined into "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer", so this is the first campaign book from the combined company! The book is filled with full-page ads for upcoming productions from the new combined company, all with color art, including films such as The Navigator (Buster Keaton), The Scandal and The Arab (Ramon Novarro), The Merry Widow (Erich von Stroheim), He Who Gets Slapped (Lon Chaney Sr.), and many more. For unknown reasons, MGM campaign books from the 1920s and 1930s are even more rare than those from other studios, and there are several years from which not a single full-size campaign book is known to exist. Finally, note that campaign books in general are extremely rare, and the best of them have often sold for hundreds of dollars, and in the case of the very finest, thousands of dollars! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this campaign book! As noted above, there are several years from which not a single full-size MGM campaign book is known to exist, and until we were consigned this incredibly rare book, this was one of those years! Condition: good to very good. There is much staining on the covers and some paper loss on the spine. The interior pages are in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
