An Autographed 8" x 10" (8x10) REPRODUCTION Still (Learn More)

Dorothy Lamour was born in Louisiana in 1914. She was Miss New Orleans at 16, and she became the vocalist in the Herbie Kaye band, and married the bandleader. She was spotted by Paramount Pictures, and after a few uncredited appearances, she starred in The Jungle Princess, where she wore a floral print wrap-around sarong, and she was a sensation. She made five more "sarong pictures" and she also starred in the "Road" movies opposite Bob Hope and Bing Crosby (sadly in the last of these she was dubbed too old, and she was cast aside for a younger sexy Joan Collins). She also made made other movies, but she will always be remembered as the sexy sarong girl! She passed away in 1996 at the age of 81.
Important Added Info: Note that this REPRODUCTION still has been personally autographed (signed) by Dorothy Lamour! Also note that many stars kept multiple 8" x 10" copies of good publicity images of themselves to sign for fans, and also many memorabilia shops sold such copy stills themselves. While they are not original stills, they are usually excellent clear copies, with a great shot of the star in their heyday, which, when signed by the star, makes for a wonderful framed picture on any fan's wall! In the case of this particular reproduction still, it was likely created in the 1970s or 1980s, and at the time that our consignor acquired the signature on it.

About the Collection this Item Comes From
Note that this item (and 40 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer in the 1970s and 1980s. During that time, he was approached by an elderly man named Sterling H. Bond, who had collected autographs for many years (starting in the early 1930s), and who sold the dealer his entire collection. Bond had tracked down many important Hollywood celebrities and obtained autographed items (often personalized to him), and he also had autographs from celebrities who were not in the film business (including famous politicians!). The dealer was so impressed with this collection that rather than sell it item by item, he began collecting autographs himself, sending celebrities items by Registered Mail which they then autographed and returned to him! He also purchased a few autographed items from top autograph dealers of the 1970s and 1980s. Now, decades later, the dealer has consigned these autographed items to us. So all of these 41 autographed items we are auctioning were either obtained by long time collector Sterling H. Bond, or were obtained by this memorabilia dealer, and we feel certain that the autograph on this item is authentic! Note that each of the 41 items from this consignor all have this paragraph on them.

Condition: good. There are small brown stains scattered throughout the still, including some in the central image area. Other than the stains, the still is in pretty good condition.
