Date Sold 10/30/2012Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1961 (from the first release of this movie in Italy) Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Two-Panel (known in Italy as a "4 Fogli") Movie Poster (2p; measures 55" x 78" [140 x 198 cm]) (Learn More) Zorro Rides Again, the 1959 John English & William Witney masked hero adventure singing cowboy western thriller ("Zorro in a mighty motion picture of the violent West!!"; "Beware the dreaded Z") starring John Carroll (in the title role as Zorro), Duncan Renaldo, Helen Christian, Richard Alexander, Reed Howes, Bob Kortman, Jack Ingram, Yakima Canutt (uncredited but who did many of Zorro's stunts for the film), and an "All-Star Cast". Note that John Carroll had one of his first starring roles in the 1937 Republic serial "Zorro Rides Again". In the 1940s, he became a leading man, although mostly in lesser movies. Someone at Republic Pictures had the idea in 1959, 22 years after the serial was first released, to take the serial and massively condense it down to a feature version that ran only slightly over an hour, which meant that the original plot of the serial was pretty lost. No doubt this was due to the great success of the Guy Williams "Zorro" TV show, which had started in 1957, and ran until 1961. Because this movie is so severely edited from the original serial, and because it was released so many years later, we are listing it as a separate entry, and not putting it as a re-release (but a purist might call it a 1959 re-release of the 1937 movie!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Renato Casaro Important Added Info: Note that because of the serial/feature film release (please see the Description for more info), it is difficult to determine what Italian posters are promoting. This is made even more difficult because Italian posters all list an incorrect director (Spencer Bennet), and some omit the lead star or spell his name incorrectly. Please keep this uncertainty in mind when bidding. Condition: good. Learn More about condition grades
