eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 8d0142 NATIVE SON 2sh 1950 Richard Wright's controversial story of interracial killing, ultra rare! Date Sold 4/4/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Two-Sheet Movie Poster (2sh; measures 41" x 54" [104 x 137 cm]) (Learn More) Sangre Negra (released in the U.S. as "Native Son"), the 1951 Pierre Chenal U.S./Argentinean black African American racial crime accidental murder melodrama ("The dynamite-loaded story of a negro and a white girl!"; "Now On the Screen At Last... Richard Wright's savage, terrifying best-seller Explodes onto the screen"; "I didn't mean to Kill her!"; based on the classic novel by Richard Wright; about a black man killing a liberal white girl out of fear) starring Jean Wallace, Richard Wright (as Bigger Thomas), Nicholas Joy, Gloria Madison, Willa Pearl Curtis, and Ruth Robert. Note that Orson Welles staged a very controversial version of this story on Broadway. It caused such a furor that Wright couldn't get any backing in the U.S. for a movie version of it, so he went to Argentina to shoot it with Buenos Aires doubling for New York and played the title role himself. It got very limited American release so any movie paper from it is very rare, and the U.S. and Argentinean posters have similar images! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this two-sheet, which was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap, is incredibly rare! On some low budget movies, studios made "two-sheets" rather than 40x60s, probably because they were less expensive to create (they are just two one-sheet sized pieces). Also, almost all the advertising on this movie has a very similar image and layout, but this two-sheet has a completely different image (and coloring). Posters from this movie are rare anyway, but this two-sheet is beyond rare! Condition: good. The poster has many small tears and tiny areas of paper loss on the parts of the folds that were on the outside when the poster was fully folded. It also has some tiny paper loss in the borders. After a simple linenbacking, the poster will display wonderfully! Learn More about condition grades
