An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style A Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]) (Learn More) Queen Christina, the 1933 Rouben Mamoulian Sweden royalty doomed romance romantic melodrama ("The Secret Loves of Queen Christina"; about a Swedish Queen who falls in love with a Spaniard, but is forced to marry her cousin) starring Greta Garbo (in the title role as Queen Christina; "Garbo returns"; "Triumphant return to the screen"), John Gilbert, Ian Keith, Lewis Stone, Elizabeth Young, C. Aubrey Smith, and Reginald Owen. Note that this John Gilbert sound movie, like all his sound movies, completely dispels the myth that he had a high-pitched speaking voice, which ended his career! Actually, he had a fine speaking voice, and there is much speculation as to what it was that actually ended his career, and that can be found in various places on the Internet, but it was definitely not his voice! Also, note that after making four movies in 1931, Garbo took an 18 month break before making this her next movie, and so it was advertised as her "triumphant return to the screen". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this window card, and the last one was 8 years ago! Also note that it looks like the left, right, and bottom borders might have been trimmed, but actually, they were printed with a "full bleed", something MGM was doing at the time, which means there were no white borders when the card was printed (although the top blank area has been neatly trimmed off). The card now measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]. Condition: good. Part of the blank top area was trimmed off (the other three borders are not trimmed, but it might look that way because the card was created with no blank borders on those three sides; see above). The card has paper loss in the bottom corners, which affects the letter "A" in the bottom right corner. It also has tears and surface paper loss in the borders. Many years ago, someone put tape on the back of the tears, but did no other restoration. In spite of the defects, this card can certainly be displayed as it is, or restoration can be performed, and it is primarily only in the borders and not in the image or title.
