An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Cabin in the Cotton, the 1932 Michael Curtiz romantic love triangle melodrama (based on the novel by Harry Harrison Kroll) starring Richard Barthelmess, Dorothy Jordan, Bette Davis (in an early, third billed appearance, this was the movie that first brought her to the public's attention, and included her classic line, "I'd like to kiss ya, but I just washed my hair"!), Hardie Albright, David Landau, and Berton Churchill. Note that Miss Davis was so little known by the public prior to the release of this movie that she received third billing and was not pictured on the posters (but she is pictured on the interior of the herald)!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that lobby cards from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a title card (which DOESN'T show Davis) from this movie (and NO other lobby cards) until we received this scene card and another scene card (both with Davis), which we are auctioning in a separate auction!

Note that this lobby card is from a remarkable find that was just made of extremely rare lobby cards from the very early 1930s, the kind of titles you never see! Unfortunately, all of them were in lesser condition and some in much lesser condition. We took out the best seven for individual auctions (and this is one of those), and then there are eleven incomplete sets of cards in eleven separate auctions, and finally, we made four bulk lots of the cards in the worst condition. All of these will be auctioned in our auctions that end in January, and afterwards, there will be no more cards from this remarkable find!

Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: fair to good. The card has darkened. There is paper loss in the corners and discoloration in the top right corner, with a tear in the middle of the right border slightly extending into the title. Obviously, this incredibly rare and desirable card can be restored, but bear its condition in mind (and look at our super-sized images) before bidding on it.
