Underwood art of a Marine with a rifle. Note that the U.S. Marine Corps was founded in 1775 as the "fighting branch" of the U.S. Navy. Most people think of the Marines are a completely separate branch of the military, but actually, they are still closely tied to the Navy (although many Marines don't like to think about that)! Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tears and paper loss around the edges, but solely in the blank borders. It had some creases and scuffs scattered throughout, with a few tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the creases, including a tiny bit in the Marine's eye and eyebrow. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
