An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14 1/4" x 18 1/4" [36 x 46 cm]) (Learn More) Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and the Leopard Woman, the 1946 Kurt Neumann jungle action adventure thriller ("SWORN to bring back Tarzan's body for fiendish jungle ritual!"; "Her eyes promise love... her lips sneer death!"; "Original story and Screen Play by Carroll Young"; "Based on characters created by Edgar Rice Burroughs") starring Johnny Weissmuller (in the title role as Tarzan; the 1924 Olympic swimming champion who is best remembered for playing Jungle Jim and for his role in this series), Brenda Joyce (as Jane), Johnny Sheffield (as Boy), Acquanetta (in the title role as the Leopard Woman), Edgar Barrier, and Dennis Hoey. Note that Maureen O'Sullivan tired of playing Jane in the Tarzan movies, and in 1943, two Tarzan movies were made with no Jane at all, and in 1945, she was replaced by Brenda Joyce, who played the role in five movies. Also note that apparently "Cheetah" had a terrible agent when he signed for this movie, because he received no billing at all, even though he is on the posters and other advertising, and plays a prominent role in the movie! Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). The poster also had paper loss scattered along the top edge, which extended down into the background. It also had some minor wear on the foldlines and some tears and stains in the left border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the backer simply took blank white paper and put it over the top edge of the poster, to make it look like there was blank white border there, and the paper slightly goes over the edge of the image (see our image).
