An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Chandu the Magician, the 1932 William Cameron Menzies & Marcel Varnel science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy adventure thriller ("From the radio drama by Harry A. Earnshaw & R.R. Morgan"; about a scientist who invents a "death ray", and a madman kidnaps him, but Chandu the Magician shows up and rescues the scientist) starring Edmund Lowe (in the title role as Chandu the Magician), Irene Ware, Bela Lugosi (as Roxor, the kidnapping madman), Herbert Mundin, Henry B. Walthall, and Weldon Heyburn. Note that Chandu the Magician was a radio show that started airing in Los Angeles in 1931, and went nationwide the following year. That was also when this movie version was made. Two years later, a sequel, The Return of Chandu, was made, and this time, Bela Lugosi played the lead role, after having a supporting role in this one. The show went off the air in 1936. It was revived in 1948 as a 15 minute show and ran for two years.

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this lobby card, and that was in a complete set 29 years ago (the entire set sold for $4,370)!

Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: very good. There is faint staining in the outer edges of the top and bottom blank borders, with some in the upper right blank border. Otherwise, the card is in excellent condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
