An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Autographed French "Affiche" Movie Poster (23x32; measures 23 1/4" x 31 1/4" [59 x 79 cm]) (Learn More) La Boite Aux Reves (released in English-speaking countries as "Box of Dreams"), the 1945 Yves Allegret & Jean Choux French romantic comedy melodrama (about a beautiful young woman who comes across four Bohemian men and she pretends to have amnesia, and all four lust after her, but she only wants one of them) starring Viviane Romance, Franck Villard, Henri Bry (billed as "Henry Bri"), Robert Pizani, Pierre Louis, Henri Guisol, Rene Lefevre, Gerard Philipe (uncredited), and Simone Signoret (in an early uncredited role). Note that Gerard Philipe has a very brief scene on screen, and Simone Signoret has a very small role, but she obviously had caught the eye of director Yves Allegret, because they later married! Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature is certainly authentic. Also note that we have never before auctioned this French poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had darkened somewhat in the folds and around the edges. It had some wear along both folds and pinholes in the corners. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking.
