A 1964 Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Spanish Movie Poster (measures approximately 27" x 39") (Learn More) Singin' in the Rain, the classic 1952 Stanley Donen & Gene Kelly romantic musical comedy (considered by most the best musical of all time!; "What a glorious feeling"; "MGM's Technicolor Musical Treasure!"; "Suggested by the song 'Singin' In the Rain'"; about a Hollywood movie studio in the late 1920s that wants to begin making sound pictures, but their top leading lady has a dreadful voice, plus they have great difficulties adapting to the sound equipment; pretty young Debbie Reynolds comes along to dub in the singing voice of the primadonna leading lady, played to perfection by Jean Hagen) starring Gene Kelly (as Don Lockwood), Donald O'Connor (as Cosmo Brown), Debbie Reynolds (as Kathy Selden), Jean Hagen (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Lina Lamont), Millard Mitchell (as R.F. Simpson), and Cyd Charisse (unnamed, only referred to as "Dancer"). Note that this greatest of all Hollywood musicals had an odd beginning! The title song had been sung in "The Hollywood Revue of 1929" by Cliff Edwards, and that inspired this movie, and in addition, the song "Make 'Em Laugh" was basically plagiarized from "Be a Clown", from "The Pirate"! Important Added Info: This Spanish poster measures approximately 27" x 39" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had tiny paper loss at the bottom crossfold and creases and small tears along the middle foldline. There was an extra crease running slightly diagonally just above the right half of the right of the top foldline and there were creases and tears along this extra crease. There was small paper loss in the middle of the right edge of the image. There were pinholes in the corners. The poster is pretty well backed, but you can see some signs of the restoration, even from a distance. There is an area in the top right corner and in the middle of the right of the image where the poster is slightly lifting from the linen (any restorer could re-glue this area without re-backing the poster).
