Date Sold 8/8/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Tramp, Tramp, Tramp, the 1926 Harry Edwards silent romantic comedy ("6 reel of long Langdon laughs"; "7 reels of laffs"; "Story by Frank Capra - Tim Whelan - Hal Conklin - J. Frank Holliday - Gerald Duffy - Murray Roth"; about a nerd who falls in love with a beautiful girl, and he enters a $25,000 cross-country hiking contest so he can win the money and be worthy of her) starring Harry Langdon ("The world's greatest comedian"; "In his first feature-length comedy"), Joan Crawford (in her third credited role, and she is the female lead, and on the publicity, she is identified as "Wampus star of 1926"!), Edwards Davis, Tom Murray, and Alec B. Francis. Note that this movie was Harry Langdon's first feature-length movie (after a great number of comedy shorts), and that Frank Capra was one of the writers (and perhaps that is part of why this movie is considered one of Langdon's very best!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned an insert (26 years ago), a single lobby card, and six stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this one-sheet! Also note that there is an oddity about the posters for this movie. This first unbelievably scarce one-sheet says "7 REELS OF LAFFS", but the first release insert we auctioned said "6 BIG REELS OF LANGDON LAFFS". Since the first release glass slide we have an image of says "7 REELS OF LONG LANGDON LAFFS", we would tend to think the movie did end up with 7 reels, but who knows? If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and a few creases and smudges on parts of the folds. It had paper loss in each blank corner, with a few tears and tiny paper loss in the rest of the borders and some smudges in the borders and white background areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
