An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) Zane Grey's Open Range, the 1927 Clifford Smith silent Native American Indian cowboy western (based on the novel 'Valley of Wild Horses' by Zane Grey; about a cowboy accused of rustling cattle and he can only prove his innocence and win the love of his girl by finding the real cattle rustlers, and he finds that they are in league with a group of Indians, and the climax of the movie has a battle between cowboys and Indians, and a stampede of the stolen cattle) starring Betty Bronson, Lane Chandler, Fred Kohler, Bernard Siegel, and Guy Oliver. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. Condition: good. The poster had pinholes, creases, tears, and some areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster and some creases, smudges, scuffs, and a few pinholes scattered throughout the image, and a nail hole near the center of the poster, near the base of the silhouette figure, and some stains in the arm and head of the silhouette figure. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to paperbacking. Given the large number of defects, the poster was pretty well backed by a talented restorer, but it required a great deal of restoration paint in the background areas and in the red letters of the title (no doubt this was done to "even out" both areas, but it resulted in the poster having a "restored" look). Obviously, one would prefer to find an example of this window card that had no defects or restoration, but I do not know if another example of this card exists (or if it does, if the owner would consider parting with it!). If you can accept the substantial restoration the card has had, and its restored look in the background and title letter areas, I think you will be happy with how it displays.
