Auction History Result h898 DEAD RINGER 6 movie lobby cards '64 Bette Davis, Karl Malden Date Sold 2/21/2006Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 6 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (measure 11" x 14") (Learn More) Dead Ringer (released outside the U.S. as "Who is Buried in My Grave?" and "Dead Image"), the 1964 Paul Henreid suspense thriller ("They were twins who once looked exactly alike until..."; "Mirror, mirror on the wall, now who's the fairest twin of all?"; "What Bette Davis does to Bette Davis and to Karl Malden and Peter Lawford in Dead Ringer is just what 'Baby Jane' people will adore!"; "Dead Ringer - for 'Baby Jane' people!"; about a sister who kills her twin in order to have the life she 'should have had') starring Bette Davis (billed as "Bette Davis & Bette Davis"!), Karl Malden, Peter Lawford, Philip Carey, Jean Hagen, George MacReady, and Estelle Winwood. Note that this movie reunited Paul Henreid and Bette Davis twenty years after they starred together in "Now, Voyager" (Henreid was the director of this movie, and Davis the star). Finally, note that there are many U.S. posters that have a stamp on the back that reads "The Dead Ringer", but we have never seen it referred to in that way except on that stamp, so we think it was simply a mistake. Important Added Info: Note that the back of one of these cards (the portrait card of the two stars) was overprinted with a solid rectangular border with interior dimensions of 8" x 10". This was commonly done in the 1950s so that old lobby cards could be re-used as "frames" for 8x10 stills. This IS an original lobby card, and since the overprinting on the back does not affect the front, most collectors consider it a minor defect. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
