Annie for Spite, the 1917 James Kirkwood silent orphan inheritance romantic melodrama (a wacky story about a super rich, very old lady, whose son has died, and she doesn't want to leave her fortune to her daughter-in-law, her only surviving relative, so she intentionally finds a very "ugly" girl to adopt, so she can leave her all of her money to spite her daughter-in-law!; the girl is pure of heart, and as she and the old lady grow to love each other, she becomes "beautiful", and even though she doesn't inherit the money, everything works out in the end) starring Mary Miles Minter (in the title role as Annie), George Fisher, Eugenie Forde, Gertrude Le Brandt, and George Periolat
