An Original 1968 Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Les Demoiselles de Rochefort (released in the U.S. in 1968 as "The Young Girls of Rochefort" and in other English-speaking countries as "Josephine"), the 1967 Jacques Demy & Agnes Varda French France musical romantic comedy melodrama ("A dazzling new musical treat from the creators of 'Umbrellas of Cherbourg'"; "The city of Love has fallen in love with... The Young Girls of Rochefort"; about beautiful young twin sisters in search of love and romance) starring Catherine Deneuve, George Chakiris, Francoise Dorleac (Deneuve's sister), Jacques Perrin, Grover Dale, Genevieve Thenier, Gene Kelly, and Danielle Darrieux. Note that in this movie, Deneuve and Dorleac played twin sisters, which is not that far off from reality, because they were only a year apart! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still appears in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the still was printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that it WAS printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So it is an original still from 1967, but it was printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
