An Original Vintage Theatrical 7 3/4" x 9 3/4" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Twenty Thousand Years in Sing Sing, the 1932 Michael Curtiz New York maximum security prison romantic crime thriller ("The story of a thousand men without women... and of their women who can't do without men!"; "By Warden Lewis E. Lawes"; about a prisoner in New York's toughest maximum security prison who is given an honor pass by the warden to visit his injured girlfriend, and the warden's job is on the line if he doesn't return, and he goes the man who attacked her while given the pass, but he returns to face execution) starring Spencer Tracy ("the man doomed by her love"), Bette Davis (made the same year she had her breakout hit in "Cabin in the Cotton"!; "the girl outside who couldn't wait"), Arthur Byron, Louis Calhern, Lyle Talbot, and Hardie Albright. Note that this movie was remade in 1940 as "Castle on the Hudson" starring John Garfield and Ann Sheridan! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this theater was showing a double bill of two movies (20,000 Years in Sing Sing and Goldie Gets Along), but because the giant poster appears to solely be for the first movie, we are listing it only under that movie (but someone added some writing about the second feature in the bottom left and bottom right). Also note that in recent auctions we have auctioned small photos of theater fronts from the 1930s and 1940s. Now we have been consigned a really cool collection of mostly 1930s 8x10 stills that show theater fronts and lobby displays (many of them have a stamp from a Boston company on the back, so it seems likely that most or all of them are from theaters in the Boston area)! All of those stills are in this set of auctions (in separate auctions). So this is a rare opportunity to purchase vintage 8x10 stills showing theater fronts from the 1930s (and since we have only auctioned a tiny number of these over all our years of auctioning, there is a good chance that it will be a long time before we have more of them).
