An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Mexican Movie Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 37 1/2" [70 x 95 cm]) (Learn More) Santo el Enmascarado de Plata vs la Invasion de los Marcianos (literally translates to "Santo the Silver Masked vs the Invasion of the Martians"; and also released as "Santo Versus la Invasion de los Marcianos"), the 1967 Alfredo B. Crevenna Mexican masked wrestler luchador fantasy science fiction (sci-fi) horror thriller (about Santos battling Martians who want to take over the Earth, including beautiful female Martians!) starring Santo, Wolf Ruvinskis (great actor and athlete), El Nazi, Beni Galan, Ham Lee, Eduardo Bonada, and Antonio Montoro. Note that either the Mexican poster designer was feeling especially lazy when he created this poster, or he thought that no one would notice, but he used the exact design of the 1964 U.S. one-sheet for "Robinson Crusoe on Mars", including the background! Of course, the movie itself might be a rip-off of that movie, in which case it makes more sense! It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Leopoldo Mendoza Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Mexican movie! What IS linenbacking? Learn More UPDATED 04/23/2012: Note that a knowledgeable collector pointed out that this poster bears an uncanny resemblance to the U.S. one-sheet poster for the 1964 film "Robinson Crusoe on Mars" (but without a space monkey)! Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had paper loss at the crossfolds and many tears and small areas of paper loss on parts of most foldlines, and there were pinholes, tears, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. The entire poster had darkened and there were some stains, tears, and tiny paper loss in areas other than the foldlines. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed under the circumstances, but it has had considerable restoration, and has a "restored" look, and the restoration is pretty noticeable.
