If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Bulgarian poster! It is one of a remarkable collection of 19 Russian/Soviet Union posters we are currently offering. They are among the most rare posters there are, from the early 1920s through 1946. Not only have we only auctioned one of the 19 before (the other 18 we have NEVER auctioned), but in all our years of auctioning, we have only auctioned a couple of dozen Russian/Soviet posters from the 1920s, and a slightly larger amount from the 1930s, and a slightly larger amount from between 1940 and 1946! Many of these 19 posters are from movies, but there are also circus posters, travel posters, and war posters. Note that the poster has an artist's signature on it, but we cannot read it. If anyone knows the name of this artist, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that this poster was mounted to a board that was already folded in half, but it still now measures 27 1/4" x 28 7/8", so it must be sent in a large flat package that measures approximately 29" x 31", so bear this in mind before bidding on this incredibly rare poster! UPDATED 05/03/2020: Note that, while we cannot be certain, this is likely a Bulgarian poster and not Russian as we originally mentioned. Condition: good. The poster was mounted to a heavy board that was folded down the middle either before or after it was mounted. There are metal grommets in the top corners, so this mounting was surely done by the theater that used this poster at the time the film first played in Russia. The poster is separating along the area where the board is folded, and that needs to be addressed. There is tiny paper loss in the right border and some small stains in the bottom center above the MGM logo. There is some tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some wear on the folds. Please look closely at our super-sized image of this incredibly rare poster to get a good sense of its condition before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
