Date Sold 5/3/2005Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (measure 11" x 14") (Learn More) Rusty Saves a Life, the 1949 Seymour Friedman German Shepherd dog canine adventure melodrama sequel ("Go get him, Rusty! It's your most gallant adventure!"; "Trust Rusty to save a life...and a love!"; "Grand new thrills from your favorite boy and dog!") starring Ted Donaldson, Gloria Henry, Stephen Dunne, John Litel, Ann Doran, Thurston Hall, and Flame (in the title role as Rusty, the German Shepherd dog!). Apparently this movie was originally titled "Sandy Saves a Life", but the dog's name was changed to "Rusty", so the title had to be changed! Flame is a pretty much forgotten canine star of the 1940s and 1950s (and he was actually the third dog star named "Flame"), but he appeared in 17 movies starting with 1946's "My Dog Shep", and he also starred in "My Dog Rusty", and he appeared in several movies as Shep and as Rusty between 1946 and 1951. In 1952, he made a single appearance in the 1952 TV series "Cowboy G-Men", and then in 1954, he had another single appearance in TV's "The Life of Riley", at which point he retired.
