Selznick) starring Greta Garbo (in the title role as Anna Karenina), Fredric March (as Vronsky), Freddie Bartholomew ("[David Copperfield]"), Maureen O'Sullivan, Basil Rathbone, Reginald Denny, and Mischa Auer. Note that this had been one of Greta Garbo's biggest hits in 1927 when it was titled "Love", as a silent movie, and she remade it in 1935, replacing John Gilbert with Fredric March. Important Added Info: Note that during World War II, the major studios had a shortage of new movies to release, because so many of their male stars were serving in the military. We believe this movie was re-released by MGM in both 1942 and then again in 1948, and that the 1948 poster reused the same litho number as the 1942 poster (the only difference between the two posters is that the one we think is 1942 has a yellow background, and the one we think is 1948 has a cream colored background). Someone thought incorrectly that this was the 1942 re-release, and they wrote the 1942 NSS number in pencil at the bottom right, but they were wrong. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny paper loss and pinholes in the borders, with pretty minor fold wear. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking.
