An Original Vintage Folded Music Radio Station Poster (measures 45" x 59 1/2" [114 x 151 cm]) (Learn More) WPLJ 95.5 was a rock 'n' roll (rock & roll) radio station which was founded in 1971. The station pioneered the very first album-oriented rock (AOR) format, playing only the best cuts from the best-selling rock albums with a minimum of disc jockey talk. The station's ratings shot up dramatically, and WPLJ became New York's most listened-to FM rock station for most of the 1970s. The station continued into the 2010s (with many format changes over the years) before being sold in 2019, renamed to WPLJ and the format changed to Christian adult contemporary. Not only that, but we have only previously auctioned four other posters from this radio station, and those were all from the 1980s, and this one is definitely from 1977, because it has a 1977 copyright.
