An Undated (probably 1946) Re-release (re-titled "Lady from Frisco" for this re-release) Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Rebellion, the 1936 Lynn Shores Old California Mexico cowboy western romantic melodrama (based on the story by John T. Neville; set in 1850, two years after California became part of the U.S.; crooked Americans have started seizing ranches from Mexicans living in California, and the sister of the leader of the Mexicans goes to President Zachary Taylor to ask him to help them, and he sends Tom Keene, who fights the bad guys, and when the Mexican leader, played by Duncan Renaldo, is killed, he takes his place and helps the Mexicans get justice) starring Tom Keene, Rita Hayworth (billed as "Rita Cansino"; this was her seventh credited movie role!), Duncan Renaldo, William Royle, and Gino Corrado. Note that Rita Cansino was a professional dancer who had a few small roles in Columbia movies, usually dancing. She left Columbia to make this movie, where she had the really significant role of the sister of the Mexican leader, and it did cause her to become noticed, and after three more movies away from Columbia, she re-signed with them, and Harry Cohn made her over as "Rita Hayworth", and the rest, as they say, is history! Important Added Info: Note that Rita Hayworth appeared in many westerns as the love interest in the mid-1930s, when she first made movies. In the early 1940s, after she became a major star, many studios re-released those early westerns, very deceptively top billing Rita Hayworth, and usually re-titling the movies, so as to mislead audiences into thinking they were seeing a brand new Rita Hayworth movie! In this case, the title "Rebellion" was changed to "Lady from Frisco", and Hayworth was given huge billing on the poster! Condition: good. Learn More about condition grades
