Auction History Result #4009 AFFAIRS OF ANATOL TC '21 Reid, Swanson Date Sold 4/8/2003Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Affairs of Anatol (also released as "A Prodigal Knight"), the 1921 Cecil B. DeMille silent romantic love triangle all-star comedy ("To Anatol every pretty face was an invitation ---- and he never sent regrets!"; "Cecil B. DeMille's Greatest Production"; "Suggested by Arthur Schnitzler's play and the paraphrase thereof by Granville Barker"; "With the most imposing cast ever assembled in on photoplay"; based on a then-famous play by Arthur Schnitzler, which dealt with a philandering husband who wants any woman other than his wife, and of course, when he finally realizes that he belongs with his wife, she no longer wants him; director/producer Cecil B. DeMille used his clout to cast all of the top Paramount stars of the day in the lead roles!) starring Wallace Reid (in the title role as Anatol Spencer), Gloria Swanson, Elliott Dexter, Bebe Daniels (as Satan Synne, the wickedest woman in New York!), Monte Blue, Wanda Hawley, Theodore Roberts, Agnes Ayres, Theodore Kosloff, Polly Moran, Raymond Hatton, and Julia Faye. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the vast majority of collectors would assume that this is a title card, but it is not! In the mid to late 1920s, Paramount made many sets of lobby cards where the seven scene cards all LOOK like title cards, but the actual title card is different from the seven scene cards (not too long after this, Paramount abandoned title cards altogether for the most part for the next forty-odd years, instead using a posed portrait of the stars in place of a title card). In the case of this set, ALL eight cards seem to be scene cards! This scene card is from one of those sets where the scene cards are commonly mistaken for title cards. Please do not bid on it thinking it is a title card, as it is a scene card! Condition: fine. Other than a tack hole in each corner and some very slight darkening around the edges, the card is in wonderful condition considering it is 82 years old! Learn More about condition grades
