An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 8" x 11" [20 x 28 cm]; 26 pages) (Learn More) The Firing Line, the 1919 Charles Maigne silent romantic love triangle melodrama ("By Robert W. Chambers"; "The beautiful gowns and dresses worn by Irene Castle in this film are pictured and described in the July Ladies' Home Journal"; a truly wild story of a woman who gets married "in name only", for the position she will gain, but then she falls in love with another man, and her husband, seeing that she is far happier with the other man, goes to a seance and asks his dead father for advice on what to do, and the dead father tells him to commit suicide, which he does, and then his wife is free to marry the other man!) starring Irene Castle, David Powell, Gladys Coburn, Anne Cornwall, Charles Craig, and Rudolph De Cordova. Note that star Irene Castle was the wife of Vernon Castle, and together they were a legendary dance team, but she made some movie appearances without her husband. In 1949, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers made a biography of them called "The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle". Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned five lobby cards, two 8x10 lobby cards, and a single 8x10 still from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this pressbook! Also note that this is one of a pretty remarkable group of 12 incredibly rare pressbooks that date from 1917 to 1920! This is from the time period when pressbooks were first made, and it is even before the time that inserts or half-sheets were made! Pressbooks from this time period are among the rarest movie paper collectibles there are. These were all consigned to us from a man who collected for many decades, and it is a far greater number of pressbooks from this period than we have ever auctioned in all our years of auctioning! Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle. There are many stains scattered throughout both covers. Learn More about condition grades
