An Undated (probably 1940s) Re-Release Theatrical Folded Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 29" x 43" [74 x 109 cm]) (Learn More) Assassin of Youth, the 1937 Elmer Clifton marijuana marihuana pot weed drugs thriller ("A Puff, A Party, A Tragedy") starring Luana Walters, Arthur Gardner, Dorothy Short, Earl Dwire, and Fay McKenzie. We are certain that this movie played in the late 1930s and 1940s on a "roadshow" basis, being shown in small towns for one night only, sometimes at midnight shows. The only movie paper we have auctioned has a "roadshow" feel to it, and may well be from a roadshow release. If anyone has ever seen any movie paper they think is definitely from 1937, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that in 1968, this movie was recirculated to theaters under the title "The Devil's Joint", with images and taglines partially lifted from the original 1937 poster, and with the added tagline "Not a new problem!!! This film was made in 1937 -- before most of you were born!! Never on T.V." Further note that the IMDb lists "The Devil's Joint" as a 1969 compilation documentary of the 1930s and 1940s drug movies, and it is possible that such a documentary was made the year after the movie was re-released, but it is also possible the documentary was created at any later date. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we can't say for certain that this is a re-release as opposed to a first release, and we can't even be certain this is definitely from the 1937 movie "Assassin of Youth". But it seems most likely that it IS a 1940s Argentinean re-release of this movie, because the poster would seem to surely be from the 1940s, and it has the re-release title in Spanish, and what other movie would it be from? The only other question is whether the movie ever played in Argentina before the 1940s. If it didn't, this is likely a 1940s first release poster. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good. The poster has tears, stains, and paper loss in the top, but it is very fortunate that the paper loss in solely in the blank border and a tiny bit in the solid background. There is a stamp in the top left corner and the entire poster is somewhat fragile. However, after a relatively simple linenbacking, it will look great. One would prefer to find a better condition example of this poster, but that might take the rest of one's life, given how rare it is! Learn More about condition grades
