He may be best remembered for his long romance and marriage to Elizabeth Taylor. Some of his movies include: Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), My Cousin Rachel (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), The Longest Day, 1984, Becket (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Where Eagles Dare, Zulu, The Robe (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), The Spy Who Came In From The Cold (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), and Anne Of The Thousand Days (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film). He was also Unit Manager for the Academy Awards for a number of years, and during his long and varied career, he met many celebrities and obtained autographs from them in person (often personalized to him).
