An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Dead of Night, the classic 1945 (released in the U.S. in 1946) Alberto Cavalcanti (billed as "Cavalcanti"), Basil Dearden & Robert Hamer English Ealing Studios horror crime mystery thriller anthology ("Like nothing in this world you've ever thrilled to before!"; "The unexpected, the tragic, the comic, the romantic, the dramatic..."; "Based on Original Stories by E.F. Benson and John Bains", and also based on stories by H.G. Wells and Angus MacPhail; the movie contains four unrelated short films linked by a dream sequence) starring Mervyn Johns, Roland Culver, Frederick Valk, Sally Ann Howes, Googie Withers, Hartley Power, Anthony Baird (billed as "Antony Baird"), Michael Redgrave (wonderful as a ventriloquist whose dummy takes on a life of its own, a plot that was later made the basis of entire movies!), and Ralph Michael NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster had creases, tiny tears, and a few tiny areas of paper loss on parts of the vertical foldline with a lesser amount of wear on the horizontal folds. There were pinholes, creases, tears, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster, extending into the edges of the image. There was a V-shaped tear in the dummy's head at upper left. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
