Date Sold 8/28/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) Not Quite Decent, the 1929 Irving Cummings romantic nightclub stage performer family relationship melodrama ("HEAR them TALK in this DIALOG FOX MOVIETONE Feature"; "Story by Wallace Smith"; about a beautiful young woman who performs in a nightclub, and an aging female performer takes her under her wing and keeps her out of trouble, and it is ultimately revealed that her benefactor is actually her long lost mother!) starring June Collyer, Louise Dresser, Marjorie Beebe, Allan 'Rocky' Lane (in his first movie appearance, and he is billed!) and Paul Nicholson. Note that this was one of the very first talking pictures from William Fox, although there was only a total of 15 minutes of sound within the movie (typical of early talking pictures like "The Jazz Singer"). Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this was one of William Fox's very first talking pictures. It appears that they prepared two different ad campaigns for this movie (and likely two different versions of the movie, one "silent" and the other "sound"), one for theaters that HAD sound equipment and could advertise it that way, and another for theaters that showed it in a silent version, and could use movie paper that did not advertise it as a "talking picture". The poster offered here is from the "sound" ad campaign (note the "HEAR Them TALK in this DIALOG FOX MOVIETONE Feature")! If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: very good. The poster had approximately 4" of its blank top trimmed off. There were a few smudges and scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was well backed, and the restorer replaced the missing top blank area. Learn More about condition grades
