An Original 1938 Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 10" x 12 3/4" [25 x 32 cm]) (Learn More) Young and Innocent (released in the U.S. in 1938 as "The Girl Was Young"), the 1937 Alfred Hitchcock English crime murder mistaken identity thriller ("Alfred Hitchcock's successor to '39 Steps'"; about a man who discovers a dead body and runs to report it to the police, but people see him running away and think he is the killer, and then he meets a beautiful young woman who believes him and tries to help him prove his innocence) starring Nova Pilbeam, Derrick De Marney, Percy Marmont, Edward Rigby, and Mary Clare NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that movie paper of any kind from this movie, which Alfred Hitchcock made after "The 39 Steps", is incredibly rare! We have only previously auctioned one lobby card, and that was a scene card, which we auctioned in 2004 for $1,602! Now we have been consigned this title card, which we have never auctioned before! Note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 10" x 12 3/4" [25 x 32 cm]. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.
UPDATED 04/14/2017: Note that we have updated the Condition Description. Condition: good. The card was very neatly trimmed on all four sides, and it now measures 10" x 12 3/4". Based on an image of an untrimmed card, the trimming extended into the edges of the image on the top and right side. But the trimming only affects a slight bit of the image and title. In addition, there is a printing defect in the card. When you look closely at it, you can clearly see that the blue plate was printed slightly out of register to the other colors. There is a crease in the left of the bottom of the card (it kind of looks like it could be a tear, but it is not). There is also a less notable crease under the "DE" of "DERRICK" at the bottom center of the card. Other than the defects described above, the card is in pretty nice condition, and it is not at all fragile. I would think that many collectors could display and enjoy this card as it is, or one could have restoration performed. Either way, the new owner of this card will have an incredibly rare item that every Alfred Hitchcock collector would love to own! Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
