An Unfolded Special Poster (measures 25" x 30" [64 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Jimi Hendrix at Berkeley, the 1971 local theater poster promoting a concert movie with Jimi Hendrix and a short titled Rainbow, which featured music by the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. This double-bill was shown at the Garrick Cinema in New York City on and around September 27th, 1971. Note that Jimi Hendrix at Berkeley may be a re-titling or re-editing of the 1971 film Jimi Plays Berkely (which opened two weeks earlier than the showing of this movie), as it also showed portions of Hendrix's May 30th, 1970 concert at the Berkeley Community Theatre. And we cannot find anything about the movie "Rainbow" which was likely a short, and likely was made at this time. If anyone knows more about either of these films or the double-bill showing, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was created for the double-bill showing of these two rock films at the Garrick Cinema on Bleeker Street in New York City on or around September 27th, 1971. it would have been locally produced for that theater, and surely very few posters were printed, because they could only be used at that theater, and it is unlikely that any others survive, or if any do, that there are only one or two others at the very most. This is likely one of the most rare Jimi Hendrix posters there is! Our consignor was working for this theater and other theaters in New York City at this time, and he acquired this then, and has kept it all these years! Condition: good. The poster was never folded. It has light creases scattered throughout. It has a 1" tear in the center of the bottom border. It has slightly uneven edges on the left and right, probably because it was trimmed by hand when it was made! Learn More about condition grades
