An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 10 3/4" x 14" [27 x 36 cm]; 9 pages) (Learn More) Allen Stuart's The Unashamed, the 1938 Allen Stuart romantic love triangle nudist melodrama ("Tender love and inspiring sacrifice in a modern Eden"; "Actually filmed in a nudist camp"; "It's Intimate! Tempting! Revealing!"; "A Romance in the Nude!"; about an overworked man whose secretary tells him she is secretly a nudist, and he accompanies her to a resort, where she hopes to win him romantically, but he falls for another woman there, and she commits suicide; this was a pretty standard melodrama, but obviously, the nudist element was introduced to present an excuse to show lots and lots of naked people, but their genitalia was never on view!) starring Rae Kidd, Robert Stanley, Lucille Shearer, Emily Todd, Ross Lynn, and Frances Grey. Note that there was a "nudism" craze in the United States in the mid-1930s, and quite a few "normal" people entered into this movement, and it peaked in the late 1930s, and wily filmmakers made some movies like this to capitalize on the public interest (which included a high percentage of adult males, who went to the movie to see the naked people)! Important Added Info: Note that this pressbook contains unclothed women, so we have placed white bars over those areas, for those who are bothered by such images. Of course, the actual pressbook does not have those white bars! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good, NO CUTS. There is scuffing scattered on the covers and along the fold, with tiny bits of paper loss down the spine edge.
