An Original Vintage Theatrical Chapter #2 (The Maddened Herd) Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Phantom Rider, the 1936 Ray Taylor cowboy western serial ("The mystery man of the plains rides again!"; "15 chapters thrill packed with dangerous adventures!") starring Buck Jones (in the title role as Buck Grant), Marla Shelton, Diana Gibson, Harry Woods, Joey Ray, Eddie Gribbon, Helen Shipman, Frank LaRue, and George Cooper. Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! Also, we have seen two (so far) chapter title lobby cards with the very embarrassing spelling error of "The Phamtom Rider"!

Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this chapter 2 title card, and we have only auctioned a single scene lobby card from chapter 2 as well! Also, note that the title of this card contains a huge spelling error! Instead of "The Phantom Rider" it reads "The Phamton Rider"! Somebody must have REALLY not been paying attention when these cards were printed! We have seen this error on two (so far) title cards for different chapters. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good. There is very light brown water staining scattered in the card, more so in the left half, and it is mostly only noticeable in blank white areas. The card also has pinholes in the corners. This is the sort of card that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the light water stains can be removed through chemical means, after which the card will look fantastic (although I think most collectors could happily display this great card on their wall just as it is). Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
