An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Brother Orchid, the 1940 Lloyd Bacon gangster-on-the-run crime screwball comedy ("We'd like youse to meet Brother Orchid"; "Based on the Collier's magazine story by Richard Connell"; about a gangster who hides out in a monastery, and pretends to join the order, with great comic results!) starring Edward G. Robinson (in the title role as Little John Sarto/Brother Orchid), Ann Sothern, Humphrey Bogart (in one of his many unsympathetic gangster roles, after making The Petrified Forest, but before Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon), Donald Crisp, Ralph Bellamy, Allen Jenkins, and Paul Guilfoyle NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had small paper loss at the middle crossfold, with tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss scattered down the entire vertical fold, with a much lesser amount of wear on the horizontal folds. It had large paper loss in the top center and bottom center, and it affected the "OUS" of "YOUSE" at top center, and a small bit of the small text and border area at bottom center. It also had large paper loss in the rest of the top and bottom borders, but only in the blank areas. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. It was fortunate that many of the defects were in the blank borders, and the restorer did a pretty nice job, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. However, bear in mind the restoration this poster has had (although remember that much of it was in the blank borders). Learn More about condition grades
