An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Ghost of Frankenstein, the 1942 Erle C. Kenton Universal monster horror thriller sequel ("New Thrills as the monster stalks again!"; "Original Story, Eric Taylor"; the fourth Universal Frankenstein movie after the three 1930s classics; in this entry, Bela Lugosi as Ygor resurrects the Frankenstein monster and takes him to the doctor's son and they must find a new brain!) starring Cedric Hardwicke (billed as "Sir Cedric Hardwicke"; as Dr. Ludwig Frankenstein), Ralph Bellamy, Lionel Atwill (as Doctor Bohmer), Bela Lugosi (as Ygor), Evelyn Ankers (as Elsa Frankenstein), Lon Chaney Jr. (as the Frankenstein monster), Holmes Herbert, and Janet Ann Gallow NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good. the card had multiple pinholes and small paper loss in each corner and a restorer filled in each corner from the reverse, and at the same time mended seven small tears in the blank borders, and also a pinhole near the exact center of the card and a few tiny pinholes in the borders (they did not attempt to make these defects invisible, they just filled the tiny missing areas and joined the tears); there is a 3" horizontal crease in the top left corner of the image area extending into the edge of Frankenstein's head; there are a few faint scuffs in the solid colored areas of the image, but they are truly faint, and not really noticeable except when staring intently at the card while tilted; there are faint scuff marks over Bellamy's and Anker's faces that are slightly noticeable and a minute area of paper loss in the middle of the left blank border; The above sort of restoration was much more common in the hobby 15-20 years ago, when it was almost surely performed, and I like this type of restoration! It solely concentrates on areas of paper weakness, and leaves the card pretty much as is. I would think that almost every collector would be extremely happy to own this great card, and I can't see who would be bothered by the minimal restoration it has had!
