An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Dancing Romeo, the 1944 Cy Endfield (billed as "Cyril Endfield") Our Gang juvenile comedy short (Froggy is lovesick because his rival dances with his girl, so he sets up a stage show with him as the dancing star, with Buckwheat's help, to impress her) starring Billie 'Buckwheat' Thomas, Janet Burston, Billy 'Froggy' Laughlin, Robert 'Bobby' Blake, Bobby Browning, and Vincent Graeff. Note that this was the very final Our Gang short! Spanky had left at the end of 1942, and many of the other regulars had left. Robert Blake was about to go to playing Little Beaver in the "Red Ryder" series of movies, and there was one more short in production, Home Front Commandos, but that was canceled and this was released and then there were no more Our Gang shorts ever! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had tiny holes at the crossfolds and some minor border wear. The poster had a few missing pieces and tears in the blank borders, and the person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). This poster was very nicely backed, and there is little actual restoration anywhere in the image. I would think every collector would be happy to display it on their wall!
