The Swan, the 1956 Charles Vidor royalty romantic comedy ("MGM presents The Love Story of A Princess"; "Screen Play by John Dighton"; "From the play 'The Swan' by Ferenc Molnar") starring Grace Kelly, Alec Guinness, Louis Jourdan, Agnes Moorehead, Jessie Royce Landis, Brian Aherne, Leo G. Carroll, Estelle Winwood, and Van Dyke Parks. Note that this movie is a remake of the 1930 movie "One Romantic Night", which was itself a remake of the 1925 silent movie.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some minor fold wear. It had a large circular stain in the bottom of the swan's neck, with a small stain near the center of it. It had some similar stains around the "E" of "THE" in the title. It had some grease pencil writing on the back of the upper right and on the back of the "J" of "JOURDAN", and that somewhat bled through to the front. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
