An Unfolded Autographed Commercial Poster (made to be sold directly to the public; measures 24" x 30" [61 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) The Stars of 20th Century Fox, the 1981 poster created by Nostalgia Merchant, and featuring the famous studio logo and the autographs of Hollywood stars. Note that this was published by The Nostalgia Merchant, which was a company owned by Snuff Garrett. He worked in the movies, and he was a poster/lobby card collector, and he thought there would be a market for posters signed by a number of then-living stars. This is one of several different posters he created, and of course, in this case, he rounded up classic MGM stars, and arranged for each of them to sign a number of these posters, which he then marketed to collectors. There were also several other posters he produced, each one devoted to a different theme/company, and each one was signed by a number of actors. We have heard from a knowledgeable source that it took over a year to complete all of the signatures for the posters. Employees of Nostalgia Merchant/Snuff Garrett would often travel to the stars homes or their offices, or the stars would come to Hollywood to sign. To sign all prints in the series took each star approximately 5 to 6 hours! Of course, in recent years, we have seen many posters signed by large numbers of celebrities appear on eBay, and the vast majority of them are completely fake, but this poster is 100% authentic! Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by TWENTY ONE people: Richard Egan, Peggy Ann Garner, George Montgomery, Rory Calhoun, Joanne Dru, Jane Withers, Stewart Granger, Alice Faye, Jeanne Crain, Don Ameche, Jean Peters, Corinne Calvet, Sheree North, Terry Moore, Cesar Romero, Keye Luke, Dean Jagger, Ernest Borgnine, Lloyd Nolan, Joan Collins, AND Tom Ewell! Also note that we have never before auctioned one of these Fox posters! It was consigned to us from the estate of a man who worked at 20th Century-Fox at the time this was created in 1981. We do not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signatures are authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
