Date Sold 3/12/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Campaign Book (measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/4" [24 x 31 cm]; 24 pages) (Learn More) Gaumont British 1936-37, the 1936 Gaumont British studio campaign book ("GB Tops 'Em All"; "24 for 1936-'37"). Gaumont British was the North American distributor of movies made in England, and this was their campaign book for the 24 English movies they were distributing in 1936 and 1937. It features full-page images of stars and ads for upcoming movies, with added information about some of them at the bottom. All of them are great artwork images, but they are not signed. There is a great image for "King Solomon's Mines", which starred Paul Robeson, two full pages for Robert Donat and Sylvia Sidney in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Hidden Power" (from Joseph Conrad's book, which was released as "Sabotage"), plus many more. There is a title page that has color headshot photographic images of the top stars! Note that it might appear that this was made in Canada (especially because it says "CANADA, EMPIRE FILMS, LTD." on the bottom of the title page), but that refers to the Canadian distributor, with the U.S. distributor to the left of that, 20th Century-Fox. The back of the folder clearly says tht it was printed in the U.S.A. "by Pace Press N.Y.C." NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never seen this campaign book before. Apparently, it was originally a spiral-bound book with the binding at the top, and someone removed all the pages (which are printed one side only) from the spiral binding, and on most they trimmed off the excess at the top, and on a few there are the tiny pieces of paper left from the spiral binding. The pages are in a printed folder. We don't know if all the pages are present, because they are loose, and we have never seen another example of this. We do know that there are two examples of the page for "His Majesty's Pyjamas", so either that was a mistake, or someone combined two books. Certainly, the individual pages could be sold by themselves, because they are quite striking (and because they are loose, it would not be hard to sell them that way). Condition: good. As noted above, there is one page duplicated, and since the pages are loose, we don't know if they are complete (but they do fit snugly in the folder). Also, as noted above, there was originally a spiral binding at the top, which is no longer present. But the individual pages are generally in nice condition (see our images).
