Faith Baldwin's Portia on Trial, the 1937 George Nichols Jr. (billed as "George Nicholls Jr.") courtroom legal lawyer trial romantic crime murder thriller (about a dedicated female lawyer who is defending a woman who shot her lover, and there are numerous coincidences in the lives of the lawyers and their clients, and the female attorney is having an affair with the attorney for the prosecution, much like in today's legal TV shows!) starring Walter Abel, Frieda Inescort (in the title role as Portia Merriman), Neil Hamilton, Heather Angel, Ruth Donnelly, and Barbara Pepper
