GORDON SCOTT/IRISH MCCALLA GORDON SCOTT/IRISH MCCALLA 8x10 OR search current auctions Auction History Result 1b860 GORDON SCOTT/IRISH MCCALLA signed 8x10 REPRO still 1993 Tarzan & Sheena publicity photo! Date Sold 10/3/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Still (Learn More) Gordon Scott (real name Gordon Merrill Werschkul) was an actor from the 1950s to the 1960s. He was a lifeguard with 19-inch biceps when he was discovered by Sol Lesser and signed to play Tarzan. Some of his movies include: Tarzan's Greatest Adventure, Tarzan the Magnificent, and Tarzan The Lost Safari, and he played strongmen in many Italian movies AND Nellie Elizabeth "Irish" McCalla was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska. She moved to Hollywood when she was 17, and after working as a waitress and at an aircraft factory, she married and had two sons. But she also became a model (among other jobs she posed for pinup artist Alberto Vargas when he was working for Esquire), and she had a cameo role in a 1952 movie, River Goddesses. She was 5'10" and her measurements were reportedly 39-24-38! Her big break came when she was chosen to play the lead role in TV's "Sheena: Queen of the Jungle", although it only ran for one season in 1955, that is the role she is best remembered for! Over the next few years she appeared in a handful of movies and TV shows, including The Beat Generation, Five Gates to Hell, and Five Bold Women. She had several marriages and divorces, and after her career wound down she became a successful painter in Prescott, Arizona. She passed away at age 73 in 2002. Important Added Info: Note that this REPRODUCTION still has been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Gordon Scott AND Irish McCalla (and Mr. Scott signed the still twice, because the first time he signed it was in the lower left, where he wrote "Tarzan" under his name, but he realized the autograph did not show well, so he wrote it again in the bottom blank border)! It was originally from the collection of Dan Patterson, and he noted on the back that he acquired the autographs in person on 4/3/93. Also note that the item comes with a "certificate of authenticity" from Silver Screen Collectibles. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
