An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Oscar Wilde's Salome, the 1922 Charles Bryant silent Biblical historical romantic betrayal melodrama (based on the play by Oscar Wilde) starring Alla Nazimova (in the title role as Salome; born Mariam Edez Adelaida Leventon in Russia in 1879; she was a pupil of Stanislavsky [and his "method" style of acting]; she became a major stage star there, and came to the United States in the mid-1910s and made eleven movies for Metro in three years, including "Camille" opposite Rudolph Valentino; she produced movies that flopped badly, and she returned to the stage, returning to make a very few movies in the 1940s; she is as famous for her off screen behavior as for her on screen behavior!), Rose Dione, Mitchell Lewis, Earl Schenck, and Louis Dumar NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Aubrey Beardsley Important Added Info: Note that first release 1922 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned two one-sheets and a lobby card from this movie (and the most recent item was 7 years ago) until we received this lobby card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card had smudges and stains around the edges and faint stains scattered in the light colored areas, with a few pinholes around the edges and tiny paper loss in the top left blank corner. Overall, the card was in good to very good condition prior to restoration. The card was "starch backed", which means that it was moistened with a special starch solution, attached to a backing, allowed to dry, and then the card had touch up while it was backed, and afterward, the backing was removed. The card was starch backed by a talented professional and restoration was performed to the above defects. The card displays well, but you can see slight signs of the restoration. It still completely looks and feels like an unrestored lobby card! Learn More about condition grades
