A world of shocking suspense and sizzling romance..."; "Alfred Hitchcock's fantastic world of shocking suspense and sizzling romance!") of Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief, the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock romantic crime mystery thriller ("It's a web of romance and suspense that spins you from delight to danger - then spirals to an explosive climax on the fabulous Riviera!"; "Based on the novel by David Dodge"; "Screenplay by John Michael Hayes") starring Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Jessie Royce Landis, John Williams, Charles Vanel, Brigitte Auber, Rene Blancard, Georgette Anys, and Jean Martinelli AND Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, the classic 1958 Alfred Hitchcock San Francisco California suspense obsessive love crime mystery thriller ("Alfred Hitchcock's Masterpiece"; "Based upon the novel D'Entre Les Morts by Pierre Boileau and Thomas Narcejac"; "Music by Bernard Herrmann"; about a man with a fear of heights who is caught up in a murder, or is he?, and he meets a woman who looks very similar to the "dead girl", and he becomes obsessed with solving the mystery) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart), Kim Novak (in a dual role), Barbara Bel Geddes, Tom Helmore, and Henry Jones. Note that John Whitney Sr. (who did the spiral title sequence for the movie) also did the spiral art for the posters from this movie, which was utilized by the poster artist Saul Bass. Also note that Alfred Hitchcock did not make a final decision on what to name this movie until the last minute! At various times, it had working titles of Darkling I Listen, Fear and Trembling, From Among the Dead, and Illicit Darkening. Many of the early advertising stills don't have a title at all, but say "An Alfred Hitchcock Production". Personally, we think "Vertigo" is a better title than any of those other four! Finally, note that critical acclaim for this movie has consistently risen in the years since it was first released. In fact, in the latest "Sight and Sound" poll of top movie critics, Vertigo was declared to be the number one film of all time, over Citizen Kane, and every other masterpiece! Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this window card, and the last one was 22 years ago! Also note that these two window cards have each been trimmed and one measures 10 1/2" x 14" [27 x 36 cm] and the other measures 13" x 16" [33 x 41 cm]. Between the two, you have a complete window card, except for a thin strip of the blank borders in the upper left and upper right. Condition: fair. Someone had a window card that was trimmed in the blank borders and on the bottom and they also had a bottom half of the same window card, so they saved them, intending to some day merge the two into an almost complete window card (except for a little bit of blank border). They never got around to that, so we are auctioning the two of them together so the new owner can complete this restoration! Learn More about condition grades
