An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) The Getaway, the classic 1972 Sam Peckinpah romantic crime action thriller ("Screenplay by Walter Hill"; "From the novel by Jim Thompson") starring Steve McQueen (as Doc McCoy), Ali MacGraw (as Carol McCoy), Ben Johnson (as Jack Beynon), Al Lettieri (as Rudy Butler), Sally Struthers ("as Fran"), Slim Pickens, Jack Dodson, Dub Taylor, and Bo Hopkins. Note that the source novel of this movie was pretty "unfilmable" as written (especially the ending!), but Walter Hill did an excellent job adapting it, and while it is not the same story, it is in many ways faithful to the original, and it is certainly one of the best movies of its kind ever made! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only twice before auctioned this poster! It is not the "regular" style British quad (which we are auctioning in a separate auction). We found a website that identified it as a "style B advance teaser", but we are not sure where they got that from, so we don't want to use any of those three terms unless we can verify them (and we are calling this an "escape style" to differentiate it fro the "regular" British quad in our auction history.) The image that is on this poster is not on any other poster for this movie we have seen. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good. The poster has light fold and border wear and some faint smudges, pinholes and creases around the edges. There are several tiny brown (and slightly raised) dot stains scattered throughout the image area and in the right blank border (see our image). It is otherwise "all there" and after proper restoration the very rare poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
